A Shamanic Journey to the Source
October 15-20, 2008
Six days connecting our Spirit with the Power of the Land in Hana Maui, Hawaii.
For more than 20 years, Bobbi and Tom have been presenting a unique series of ‘evolutionary workshops’ in the US, Europe and South America. The underlying principle of these experiences is that the universe is always spontaneously transmitting teachings to us as human beings. In these workshops, Bobbi and Tom join with the Magic of Maui to assist others in "cleaning the instrument of the body-mind" in order to participate in a realm of higher human functioning.Hana...The Heart of Maui
The magnificent beauty of the tropical coast of Hana and it's intense power have a way of opening your senses that nothing else can match. Turquoise water and white waves lace together as they embrace the black sand beach at mystical Pailoa Bay. The contrast of colors and textures that fill your consciousness take you to a new level of experience. Walking along paths, surreal in their beauty, your senses will be filled with the sights and sounds of the Islands and your heart with the feeling of Aloha.
Using Hana as our "Medicine Wheel," we'll journey to special locations in the area to blend ancient and modern techniques with the power of the land to produce transformative change. We'll learn to work with the spirits of nature and be changed by their essence. We'll learn about letting go from the spirits of tropical waterfalls. We'll learn to connect with the depths of our psyche from the spirits of the sea-caves and grottos. We'll walk through bamboo forest cathedrals on our way to connect with the spiritual thread of our lives at Waimoku falls. We'll meet the stone dragons of Waianapanapa and greet the sunrise at Pailoa Bay. This is your opportunity to discover how the special rhythm of the Hawaiian Islands creates the environment in which wholeness, change and personal evolution unfold as naturally as a tropical sunrise.
In "The Spirit of Hawaii" we’ll explore ways to translate these archetypal patterns of transformation into specific capabilities that can be used to enhance all areas of modern life. The direct experience of this world-view validates our current reality in a unique way by planting ancient seeds in a modern garden in order to allow a new tree of consciousness to flower and flourish.
Tuition and Logistics
Tuition and Deposit: Register by September 1st for $750. Tuition after September 1 is $850. Please make your check payable to Best Resources and mail to 14014 Tree Crossing, San Antonio TX, 78247. Payment via credit card is available.
Transportation to/from the Mainland: Your destination is the Kahului International Airport, Kahului, Maui (airport code OGG). For some, two hours on the Hana Hiway is a bit much after a 6-8 hour flight. The Maui Seaside hotel near the airport has rooms for around $100. You can reach them at: Phone: 808-877-3311. Many major carriers (United, American, Delta, Hawaiian Airlines) fly nonstop from the mainland to Maui. Our friends Mary and Sue at Adventure Travel have found us some great deals on "fly-drive" packages. You can reach them at 928 771-0144.
Transportation while on Maui: You will need to arrange for your own transportation. Major rental car agencies are located at the airport. We can assist you with sharing a rental car with other participants.
Drive time to Hana from the Kahului Maui airport is about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, on the beautiful Hana Highway that hugs the mountains, overlooks the ocean and has lots of waterfalls and scenic overlooks. Give yourself plenty of time for the drive.
What to bring:
An insatiable curiosity and an open heart, small flashlight, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, flip-flops, serviceable pair of walking shoes (that may get wet, scuffed, scratched, muddy etc.), a small day pack, small water jug, one lightweight pair of slacks, baseball or other billed hat, and a light sweater. Other than that, its swim suit, shorts, and T-shirts, and whatever else you want to lug around the airport. Temperatures are in the 70's and 80's with afternoon rain showers a possibility.
Food:
For food shopping, there are two well stocked small ‘mom and pop’ stores in Hana... and although you can probably get whatever you may need here, you might want to stop at the Safeway or Star Market in Wailuku (near the airport) to do a major food purchase on the way to Hana. There is also a health food store in Paia (Mana Foods) on the road to Hana. Keep in mind that Hana is a very small town and the two grocery stores close early (5:30-7pm). We'll always have ample time for meals and food preparation.
For dining out, here are the options: there's a hamburger stand at Hana Bay (Tutu's) for a quick lunch; The Hana Ranch has a cafeteria with an outdoor dining deck and a luncheon buffet from 11 to 3 daily (includes hot dishes and a salad bar). Dinner is served from 6-8 on Fridays and Saturdays. The Hana Ranch also has a take-out window for breakfast and lunches. The restaurant at the Hotel Hana Maui is Hana's only 'proper' restaurant. Dinner reservations recommended. Can be a bit pricey (dinner for two $60-$80)
Cancellation Policy: Tuition paid less a $75 administrative fee may be applied to any future Best Resources workshop for a period of one year.
We look forward to seeing you there!
